My series of imaginary portraits ‘talking heads’ utilises minimal lines and rich colours to communicate emotion through simple facial expressions.
Originally developed for my Instagram page idrawheads, and for a time considered for distribution as NFTs (non-fungible tokens), these playful characters return the viewer’s gaze, inviting a conversation and addressing the subject of double empathy.
This work is mounted on plywood which has been hand-painted at its borders in the same acrylics as the print and then framed in a 3.3cm-deep wooden frame made by the artist and painted with several layers of Farrow & Ball - Pitch black No. 256 Estate Emulsion, creating a highly finished work which is ready to be hung.
